World Series Game 2 Preview

Chicago Needs a Response

The Breeze enter Game 2 with pressure on them after losing 4-1 at home in the series opener. As the 2nd seed, Chicago was expected to take advantage of home field, but instead the Reapers controlled the game late and stole the first game. The biggest concern is obviously the offense. Chicago scored just one run in Game 1 despite scoring 226 runs during the regular season. That performance is unlikely to repeat, but the Breeze need to make adjustments quickly.

Can the Reapers Do It Again?

Los Angeles could not have asked for a better start to the World Series. They came into Chicago as the 5th seed, held one of the league's most dangerous offenses to one run, and then got the decisive hit from Calx in the eighth inning. The Reapers do not need to completely dominate Chicago again. Their goal should be to keep the game close and force the Breeze to play under pressure. If LA can get into the late innings with the game tied or within a run, they have already shown they can find the big hit when it matters.

The Early Innings Matter

Chicago needs to get off to a better start offensively. Falling behind again would put the Breeze in a difficult position, especially with Los Angeles now playing with confidence. An early Chicago lead would change the feel of the game. It would take some pressure off the Breeze and force LA to play from behind. For Los Angeles, the opposite is true. If they can keep Chicago scoreless or limit them to one run through the first few innings, the Reapers will have another opportunity to turn the game into a late-inning battle.
